Brown Shipley Moves to Award-Winning 3 Hardman Street

In its bicentenary year, private bank Brown Shipley is moving to 3 Hardman Street in Spinningfields, a highly prestigious and award winning office development by Allied London, and will join other leading businesses in Manchester’s lively new business district.

Brown Shipley has had a long, successful and close association with Manchester for nearly 150 years and prides itself on being one of the leading financial institutions in the City. The private bank also has offices in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Leeds.

Matthew Dobson, partner at solicitors Brabners Chaffe Street, completed the legal work for Brown Shipley’s move which is planned for late September and will involve all 80 staff. OBI Property’s Offices Partner, Will Lewis, advised Brown Shipley on the search of their new premises to meet their location and quality criteria.

Ian Sackfield, Brown Shipley’s Managing Director who is based in Manchester, said: “As a modern private bank, with tremendous heritage, being part of the newly created financial district is very appropriate for Brown Shipley. This new office development is truly fantastic both in terms of style and all practicalities as we continue to expand our business and enhance our private client experience.”

Michael Ingall, chief executive of Allied London, said: “We are delighted that Brown Shipley is moving to Spinningfields, they are an important organisation and fit directly with the type of customer that we developed 3 Hardman Street for. Brown Shipley is one of the most focused investment banks in the city of Manchester and we want to see them prosper and grow.

“This is a time for change and preparation for the next economic cycle and our buildings are helping both client and non-client facing organisations do just that. This is the second important letting for the city in the first quarter of 2010. Both of these lettings have been at Spinningfields and I believe this reflects both Manchester’s and Spinningfields’ resilience and is a sign that people in the city are getting back to serious business.”

3 Hardman Street has won a string of awards including ‘Best Commercial Workplace’ at the Regional BCO Awards and the ’Best Development Outside London’ at the Property Week Awards.
