2 Hardman Street

2 Hardman Street is a new Headquarters office building, designed for and occupied by the Guardian Media Group in 7,618 sq m (82,000 sq ft) and by Deloitte in 6,132 sq m (66,000 sq ft).

The architecture is both responsive in scale and materials to its conservation area context, but at the same time this is very clearly a modern building using tile, colour, glass and aluminium extrusions. Variations in scale and material relate the principal corners to their adjacent neighbours.

The mass of the building and the strong verticality of the elevations facing Deansgate, coupled with three office entrances providing life and commercial identity on the Hardman Street frontage, create a building with a strong presence and high profile as a gateway development.
